Frequently Asked
Alternator & starter questions, answered
The stuff Detroit drivers ask us most. Don't see your question? Call (313) 837-4422 and we'll help.
Do you test alternators and starters for free?
Yes. Bring your alternator or starter to our Plymouth Rd shop and we'll bench-test it free so you know whether it needs a rebuild or replacement before you spend a dollar.
How much does it cost to rebuild an alternator or starter?
Price depends on the unit and the parts it needs. Because we test first, we can give you a straight quote before any work starts. Call (313) 837-4422 with your year, make, and model for a fast estimate.
How long does a rebuild take?
Most alternator and starter rebuilds are done the same day, many while you wait. Harder-to-source units may take a little longer, and we'll tell you up front.
Do rebuilt units come with a warranty?
Yes. Rebuilt alternators and starters carry a 6-month warranty where applicable. The warranty does not cover units damaged by liquid or submersion, or parts broken during installation. See our Warranty page for full terms.
Do you sell new and remanufactured alternators and starters?
We do. Along with rebuilding your original unit, we stock new and remanufactured alternators and starters for cars, trucks, and fleet vehicles. Call to check stock and pricing for your vehicle.
What information should I have ready when I call?
Have your vehicle's year, make, model, and engine size handy. If you know the part number off your old alternator or starter, even better, it helps us match the right unit fast.
Do you work with repair shops and fleets?
Yes. We supply and rebuild for local repair shops and fleets with fast turnaround and volume-friendly pricing. Call (313) 837-4422 and ask about shop and fleet service.
Won't Start? Battery Light On?
Bring your alternator or starter in for a free test. Most rebuilds are done same day, call now and talk to a real rebuilder.
